A leading solar manufacturer has decided to offer panels with microinverters for automatically converting electricity from direct current to alternating current.

SunPower, which is partly owned by gas and oil giant Total, announced this week it’s adding the E18 and E19 AC Solar Panel series to its line of solar panels. The new solar-panel models will come integrated with SolarBridge Pantheon AC microinverters made by SolarBridge Technologies.

Enphase Energy, Inc. (Petaliuma, Calif.) on June 15th, 2011 announced that it has filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed initial public offering (IPO) of its common stock. The number of shares to be offered and the price range for the offering have not yet been determined.

 

Semiconductor-based microinverter system

Enphase Energy pioneered an inverter technology for the solar photovoltaic (PV) industry to increase energy production, simplify design and installation, improve system uptime and reliability, to reduce fire safety risk, and to provide a platform for intelligent energy management. Enphase Energy’s semiconductor-based microinverter system converts energy at the individual solar module level and brings a systems-based, high technology approach to solar energy generation.

 

Bookrunning by Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch

The bookrunning managers of the proposed offering will be Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC and BofA Merrill Lynch. Jefferies & Company, Inc. will be acting as joint lead manager, and Lazard Capital Markets LLC and ThinkEquity LLC will be acting as co-managers.
