Amazing Water Powered Rocket Boots Will Send You Soaring Like a Superhero

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to soar like a superhero and you’ve got $6,600 to spare, you are in luck – the inventive minds over at Zapata Racing have invented a pair of water-propelled rocket boots that they call the Flyboard. Though the boots are actually powered by a jet ski that floats behind you attached to a giant tube, if you’re running your jet ski on biofuel you’ve got a pretty green flying machine on your hands. William Brown’s Lockheed Stratoliner Hydrogen Jet Can Go Anywhere On Earth Without Refueling 2

Some of the best aircraft in the world are inspired by unique birds, and this zero emissions jet concept from designer William Brown is no exception. The Lockheed Stratoliner is a hydrogen jet that uses oversized wings to create extra lift for extended high-altitude flights. The design was inspired by the Bar-tailed Godwit, an Australian bird that holds the record for the longest nonstop flight (7,258 miles from Alaska to Australia without feeding!). Like the Godwit, the Stratoliner can go anywhere in the world without refueling.

Brazilian Companies Study Feasibility of Renewable Jet Fuel from Sugar Cane

If this Brazilian feasibility analysis works out as planned, jet fuel might move over to the sweeter and greener side of the environmental ledger.

Two aircraft manufacturers – Boeing and Embraer S.A. – have joined with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in announcing they will jointly fund a sustainability analysis of renewable jet biofuel made Brazilian sugar cane.

Last month, IDB announced a regional cooperation grant to help public and private institutions develop a sustainable jet biofuels industry.
