If you happen to be in South London this September attending the green motor festival EcoVelocity, check out Europe’s fastest car, the Bluebird Electric.

Bluebird Electric is piloted by will Don Wales, the grandson of legendary racing motorist Sir Malcolm Campbell. Wales currently holds the U.K. land speed record for electric vehicles at 137mph, when he piloted the Bluebird Electric in August 2000.

Sometime before 2013, Wales will attempt to break 500 mph, he said in a press release.

“One day we’re going to run out of today’s fuels, and electric is the future,” Wales said. “I’ve felt strongly about this for over a decade and launched Bluebird Electric in the late 1990s. I’m pleased that it’s now being taken seriously by the industry, and events such as EcoVelocity are an excellent way to showcase how far green technology has progressed.”

EcoVelocity attendees will get to see Bluebird Electric on display in the Green Supercar Paddock.

EcoVelocity runs from September 8 to 11 at Battersea Power Station, which is located on the south bank of the River Thames, in Battersea, South London.
