Florida Power and Light Company (FPL, Juno Beach, Florida, U.S.) has announced that a new pilot program for solar photovoltaic (PV) and solar water heating rebates will begin on June 29th, 2011.

The program was originally scheduled to open on June 21st, 2011, however a problem on the FPL website prevented the submission of applications. FPL states that this delay will not impact the fair distribution of rebate funding.

“While the issue was fixed within a few hours, we have opted to postpone the application period launch in order to ensure the rebate process continues to be fair to all customers,” stated FPL Vice President of Customer Service Marlene Santos.

“This will allow ample time to widely communicate the new launch date, enabling our customers to adjust their plans accordingly.”

Rebates offered on first-come, first-serve basis

FPL’s PV program offers rebates up to USD 2 / watt for residential PV systems, up to USD 20,000 and up to 50,000 for commercial systems.

Solar thermal rebates of up to USD 1,000 for residential customers and USD 50,000 per location for business customers for heating systems are also offered through the program.

All rebates will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The program is part of a 5-year pilot program approved by the Florida Public Service Commission.
