“Go Green” is the buzz these days with many companies and innovative individuals busy inventing products and machines that are eco friendly and affordable as well. The over exploitation of renewable sources of energy has brought us to a point where these sources of energy are now in scarcity and this has prompted us to invent green products which can save both energy and money. Here is the list of five green inventions that help save money and energy:

1. YoGen Charger

This water cooler named Dolphin is without doubt a great example of innovation because this bottle less water cooler can create water out of thin air. It uses the dehumidifier’s technology to make water out of thin air. The makers claim that his water cooler is capable of making about 20 liters per day when the humidity is 70%. It features a modern filtration system to keep the water green and free from germs. This electrostatic filter sucks the air present outside and removes around 93% of the airborne particles.

When it starts collecting water, the water is passed into a tank for half an hour. The ultraviolet light tank purifies the water by killing 99.9% of the bacteria and other germs present in it. The water cooler also features a sediment screen to filter the organic chemicals. After passing through this screen, the water passes through a mineral additive and from here it goes into a reservoir tank. It keeps on moving the UV filter at regular interval.

3. The Bedol water-powered clock

Priced at USD$16.00, the Bedol water-powered clock is as inexpensive, eco friendly machine. This innovative clock does not run on batteries or mains electricity but is powered only by water. The principle of fuel cell is used in this clock create an electrons’ flow from the water. You just need to put the water in the clock and a few drops of lemon juice in the reservoir and this clock will run non-stop for round 8 weeks. The clock features an in built memory which keeps track of the time and you need not worry about resetting the time every time you change the water of this clock. This 4” x 3.5” clock is available in four colors. This fully recyclable water-powered clock is made of non-PVC Plastic. This portable watch weighs just 8 ounces.

4. Harnessing human waste to produce energy

The toilet seat has always remained a productive place with a research conducted in the UK revealing that many people come up with great ideas while sitting on their toilet seat. Here we will talk about a poo-project which was started in Didcot, England. The concept of this project is simple: to use the human waste to produce biomethane gas. This gas can be used to provide electricity in more than 200 homes in Didcot. The Didcot project was undertaken jointly by British Gas, Scotia Gas Networks and Thames Water. The best part about this project is that the spare biogas is recycled and the homes get electricity through the natural gas grid.

5. The SinkPositive water basin

Some innovative designers at Environmental Designworks have converted a common toilet’s lid into an eco-friendly sink which can be used to wash hands. You can attach the SinkPositive water basin to several toilet tanks after little plumbing. Priced at $100, the design of this green water basin is simple but praiseworthy. This water basin can be used to conserve a large amount of water daily.
