FollowWestern Solar Ltd. (Pembrokeshire, U.K.) owns and operates the first large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) park in West Wales. Using thin film photovoltaic panels from MiaSolé the PV plant with a capacity of 2MW of electricity will generate enough solar electricity to power some 600 homes.
Green Energy UK to distribute the energy produced
Together with Western Solar’s major customer Green Energy UK, which distributes the energy produced, Western Solar thanks the neighbouring communities of Ty Rhos and Cilgerran for their enthusiastic support of this new PV facility.
Western Solar is committed to spreading the technical knowhow gained at Rhosygilwen to those interested in installing PV systems of their own. Over the operational life of the facility, Western Solar will encourage sharing experiences on performance optimisation and the suitability of large scale PV to weather conditions here in West Wales.
