The Punjab government will introduce solar water pump technology for the benefit of farming community. It will provide abundant water for irrigation purposes free of cost, which will increase agri-production. Addressing a special meeting regarding Kharif crops at 90-Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam here on Monday, Chief Minister’s Senior Advisor Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa added steps were being taken for the benefit of farmers including provision of water to tail end users.
He said PMI unit of Irrigation Department should ensure accuracy of water gauges and pay special attention to the brick lining and protection of canal banks during monsoon season.
Provincial Secretaries of Irrigation, Agriculture, Livestock as well as senior officers of PAMPCO were also present on the occasion.
Khosa added flow of water in canals should be updated on daily basis on the website of the Irrigation Department.
